Yamaha YZF-R1S Photo Gallery

Like we mentioned yesterday, Yamaha has silently launched the YZF-R1S for the American market. This model is a budget variant of the YZF-R1 which was launched a couple of months ago. With the YZF-R1S, the Japanese manufacturer wants to cater to an audience, who wants the legendary motorcycle but don’t want to spend a lot. For them, the YZF-R1S makes sense. However, the R1S loses out on some premium components. Check out the detailed photo gallery of this new Japanese motorcycle.
Cosmetically, there are no differences between the YZF-R1S and the YZF-R1. In fact, there is no ‘S’ branding on the bike as Yamaha doesn’t want anyone to recognise it as a cheaper variant

The new R1S features much of the same technology built into the R1 and R1M but with exclusions that has made the bike more affordable to the motorcycle enthusiasts.

The YZF-R1S misses out on the quick-shifter but retains the high-spec traction control with its inertia measurement unit (IMU). This has helped the Japanese manufacturer to reduce the cost considerably.

Instead of titanium, the YZF-R1S gets steel conrods and exhaust headers. The YZF-R1 gets magnesium wheels, engine covers and sump. However, for the YZF-R1S, aluminium has made way for the magnesium resulting in an extra weight of 4kg.

The Yamaha YZF-R1S will be available with two colour options – matte grey and intensity white/raven/rapid red. The bike is $2000 (Rs 1.3 lakh) cheaper at $14,990 (Rs 9.8 lakh). Deliveries will begin from February 2016.
